The students from the Leadership Reno Sparks Youth had the unique opportunity to visit with Governor Gibbons in Carson City as he explained his role and responsibilities as it relates to the students' everyday lives.

The March 6, 2007 meeting with the Governor was part of the Government and Politics Workshop at the Nevada State Legislature for the students of Leadership Reno Sparks Youth.  Leadership Reno Sparks Youth, run by the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce, provides high school juniors a program of leadership development which increases their knowledge and awareness of local issues through education and community involvement. 
A mock legislative committee hearing was held on school uniforms, and each student was assigned a specific role - whether as a committee member, witness or witness presenting an amendment.  The students shadowed many of the Legislators and sat with them during the Senate and Assembly floor sessions.
