November 10, 2009 -
Governor Gibbons
joins with families of fallen soldiers
as they
are issued the new “Gold Star” license
plates. The Gold Star plate, initially
requested through legislation proposed
by former State Senator Joe Heck, was
authorized by the State Legislature last
session and signed into law by the
Governor last year. The plates are
available statewide, and will be issued
to close relatives of active duty
soldiers who are lost in the line of
duty.
Roger Varela, father of Alejandro Varela
and Sally Wiley, mother of Sean Diamond
both lost their sons in the Global War
on Terror. |
